Happy new fate
After having to stop in the third round of the recent Australian Open, Sharapova flew to Los Angeles to rest. Masha did not go alone. The beautiful tennis player that many fans fantasize about was spotted with a handsome guy. The two wore clothes that matched each other quite well. Tennis World website revealed that this is Sharapova’s new boyfriend. They have been secretly dating for a while.
The lucky guy who owns Sharapova’s heart may be strange to tennis fans but is a familiar face to art collectors: Alexander Gilkes. Gilkes was born in 1979, has British nationality and is especially knowledgeable in the field of painting sales. In 2011, Gilkes co-founded online auction house Paddle8.
Gilkes knew the two brothers, Princes William and Henry, from their time studying at the prestigious Eton school. Up to now, they still maintain a quite close relationship with each other. Notably, Gilkes once dated Princess Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa.
In 2012, Gilkes married fashion designer Misha Nonoo. But in 2016, they divorced without explaining the reason for this sudden breakup. At that time, Gilkes confided that Misha was still his only love, that his heart had no one else and he hoped to be moved by someone else in the future. Now everyone knows that the person who makes Gilkes’ heart happy again is Sharapova.
It is unclear under what circumstances he fell in love with her. I just saw some fans commenting that Sharapova and Gilkes look quite compatible.
Lots of old loves
Compared to Gilkes, Sharapova is 8 years younger. Sharapova has also never experienced marriage like Gilkes. But in terms of love, Miss Tennis is no less experienced, if not more so.
Before falling in love with Gilkes, Sharapova had at least four love affairs with famous people including singer Adam Levine, film producer Charlie Ebersol, basketball star Sasha Vujacic and tennis player Grigor Dimitrov. Not to mention, she was also rumored to have briefly dated former tennis player Andy Roddick.
Sharapova loved many things but in the end they all broke up in the middle. In her autobiography “Unstoppable: My Life So Far”, Sharapova shared about her two unfinished love affairs with Vujacic and Dimitrov. She said the reason she broke up with Vujacic after 3 years of dating was because she could not stand the patriarchal habits of this famous Slovenian basketball player. Vujacic demands control over Sharapova’s everything and is often annoyed by the fact that she is more famous than him. Immediately after winning the 2012 French Open, Sharapova thanked many people but did not mention Vujacic at all. That was an indirect announcement about them going their separate ways.
With “pilot” Dimitrov, Sharapova cannot continue dating because she cannot sacrifice for this handsome Bulgarian tennis player. Dimitrov wants Sharapova to wholeheartedly act as his rearguard. But Sharapova still has her own career and must focus on her own matches and tournaments. Sharapova concluded that she and Dimitrov met the right person, just at the wrong time in their lives.
Another pink shadow who was once likened to a tennis beauty queen, Ana Ivanovic has settled down with midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger after many difficult love affairs. Many fans hope that Sharapova’s love life will no longer be difficult from now on.
