The Inter Miami Player of the Year 2023 award goes to Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi, who made his Inter Miami debut late in July and played in just 14 games, has been named the team’s most valuable player for the 2023 campaign.
On July 1, Messi made his official move to the Florida-based team after declining offers from other teams and finishing his two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
He made his League Cup debut in a 2-1 group stage victory over Cruz Azul, a Mexican team, and in the final moments of the game, he scored the game-winning free kick.
Marca claims that after leading the team to victory in the Leagues Cup, the first trophy in the team’s history, he scored against Nashville SC in the championship game and converted his penalty in the shootout.
Messi was named MVP of Inter Miami. The captain of Argentina is the team’s player for the 2023 season, according to an official statement from the club. He is the second Argentine to win the award and the fourth overall.
In 14 games across all competitions, he made two final appearances, scored 11 goals, and provided eight assists. He missed the US Open Cup final, which the team lost to Houston Dynamo, due to an injury.
To celebrate his record-breaking eighth Ball on d’Or award, which he won following a victorious World Cup campaign in Qatar, the club hosted a friendly match against Charlotte FC.
The highlight of the day was the opening ceremony, where Messi thanked the supporters and promised even more titles the following year, even though the Floridian hosts lost the match 2-1.
